Tactical Ignorance Tactical Ignorance exists when a businessperson is making a profit by keeping themselves in the dark as to professional requirements, regulations and customs. A general contractor has carpenters wire a new house. Violations in
the finished product pointed out to them by an electrical contractor
who happens to be visiting the site several code. The general contractor
responds by saying, "what do you expect, I am a general contractor
not an electrician." But, the code violations saved the builder
a significant amount of money by using these wiring practices. This is
a situation where a businessperson is putting a good face on bad work
pleading ignorance. It is not in the interest of some business people
to know the rules; they only want to know what is profitable. Ethical
business people have the desire to know the rule factually. The house
builder is receiving a professional rate on his electrical work and should
be held to the professional standards of an electrician. See constructive
knowledge. Mismanagement: Keeping out of the loop of feedback
