Social Responsiveness

Scripting: Dealing with clients using a time honored formula of words to speak and reactions to respond to. Here the businessperson is emotionally and intellectually absent from a negotiation though they may feign concern and emotion.

When doing an ethical evaluation of a business it is important to include as many details as possible about the relationship between the business and buyer. Taken together, the many details of a business create a dynamic profile of the company's behavior. It is important to note if a business is "socially responsive" or there are likely to be problems down the road.

Note: In every profession there is scripting because the questions that are asked are repeated time and again and the reply is the same each time. Scripting goes beyond this because of a very real disconnect between the businessperson and the client. To visualize this, ask whether you are dealing with a biological machine with all the answers, or a person who is socially connected to you?

In biological terms scripting might be thought in terms of the autonomous functions of the brain in which a person’s genes, acculturations unconsciously guide their actions.
