Salting is where a seller makes it appear they is great value to product or property by strategically placing small bits of value in the area of the product or property. This is an old moral term denoting the placing of small bits of gold in a gold mind to make a potential buyer or investor think the mine has gold. Salting is a form of staging. It might include, for instance, installing gold plumbing fixtures in a house that is for sale to mislead a naive buyer into thinking the rest of the house is of value.
