Playing Emotions Playing emotions is mind game businessmen and clients play. "Being played" means someone is able to guide your thinking and exploit you. Many new business people go through a period of time where their customers see that they are naive and inexperienced and "play" them. This is called paying your dues; a circumstance where a business person finally builds up some resilience to their customers games. The most notable play businessmen execute along this line is what is called fear mongering, that is exaggerating the danger of something to a potential buyer to make a sale.
