Fast Buck Artists

A fast buck artist relies on deception to make a quick buck. They are hunting for prey rather than growing a business in the community. Tactics they use in their sales pitch includes leading the client to false expectations, visual and symbolic deception, outright lies, fraud, and powerful emotional techniques to persuade a client to buy. In practice, the vast majority of business people are farmers. However, from time to time, even ordinarily honest business people will seize an opportunity to make a fast buck since the chances of getting caught are slim. Even if someone discovers their occasional exploitation, they have enough of a reputation in the community to conceal their occasional habits.

Large profits that are made quickly are ethically suspect. There is almost a mathematical relationship between the speed of the sale, the size of the profit, taken and the degree of deception involved in closing the sale.

Quick sales, high profit sales might be categorized as follows:
FBA: Fast Buck Artist
HFB: Hybrid Fast Buck Artist
IFB: Impulse Fast Buck Artist (contextual, accidental, rare, desperation)
WFB: Windfall Fast Buck (legitimate opportunity)
OPB: Overpriced business (consistently high price, little sales pressure)
