Collecting Bills Collecting from clients can require considerable patience and diplomatic tact. One might want to think of collecting as a necessary game. Few people like to mix games and business but here is a place where they are forced to play one. It is a chess game in which the businessperson must work out their moves in advance. One of the most popular games is the "communications game.” The strategy here is to be as vague as possible over the terms of a transaction. Unscrupulous people can be very persuasive to a court having honed their argumentative skills for years so good communications are a must. Doing business in a business like way is a fundamental maxim of business. So, to do business in a business like way here requires good communication or no business at all. If protocols are not established collecting bills then emotions can run high when a client begins to argue that may end in no payment at all or unsatisfactory end of a relationship effecting ones reputation.
