Being Prepared The minimum required of a professional is "being prepared." For example, a professional electrician keeps a variety of parts on hand all the time. On the other hand, the unprofessional electrician shows up at a job without the necessary switches and outlets on his truck wholly unprepared to do his job. His lack of preparedness means extra time on the job is necessary because he needs to run to the hardware store for materials. Because the unprepared tradesman needs to make extra trips to the store he has reason to charge more for more time invested in the job. There tends to be an incentive for a tradesman to be disorganised and unprepared rather than the other way around. Being prepared is part and parcel to the idea of doing "due diligence."
